Brooke + Gwynn | Pittsburgh Engagement Portrait Photographer – Engagement Photo Session | Emily Hixon Photography
Not too long ago, I received an email from a high school classmate of mine. Brooke and I played softball together when we were little girls as well. Time goes by so quickly! When Brooke told me that she was engaged and looking for a wedding photographer, I was honored that she thought of me. After meeting with her and her fiancé, Gwynn, I was excited to be a part of their wedding day.
These two really love each other. For their engagement session, they brought along the other love of their lives: Scout. Scout is a rescue dog. Gwynn and Brooke rescued her a few years back. Now, they cannot imagine life without her. With the help of Brooke’s mom, we got some really great shots of these three. What a fun engagement session!
I cannot wait to photograph their September 2013 wedding! Enjoy.
Last week, I headed over to Washington to photograph these cute siblings! Whenever I first arrived, I was greeted by a torrential downpour of rain! I thought for sure that this session doomed. Thankfully, it was just a quick burst of rain followed by sunshine.
I had a really great time photographing these two. They were fun, energetic and willing to do just about anything! Even the family’s dog got in on a few photos (wait until you see his expression!).
Spring is here, the trees and flowers are blooming, the grass is green, and the sun is shining! We could not have asked for a more gorgeous morning for a mini session last week. It was nearly 80 degrees and sunny.
Just a short time ago, I held a mini session giveaway contest on my Facebook page and blog. The winner was a familiar face! I saw this precious baby girl and her mom in November for some holiday portraits. Although it doesn’t seem that long ago, I could certainly tell that little Ella has been busy growing over the last few months!
She was dressed in her spring colored shirt and hair bow with the cutest little pink threaded jeans which were finished off with the a brand new pair of spring sandals! I absolutely loved her sandals, but she did not care for her sandals much. Her poor little toes kept getting wet from the dewy grass and collecting dirt from the ground. Once she was cleaned up, she was good to go!
Enjoy this sweet spring baby 🙂

Last weekend, I had the opportunity to catch up with a previous coworker of mine. We had been talking about scheduling this session since probably August! Thankfully, when the day finally arrived, the weather cooperated and the light was beautiful.
We spent the morning at the park wandering around looking for great spots to take photos. I think at one point we were knee high in leaves! We even went for a small and unplanned hike up a hill to take some photos on a log. The dogs were loving spending time outside frolicking through the leaves. Their fur blends right in with all of the beautiful fall colors! I think that we all had a fun morning photo shoot! Thanks, again Bethany and Scott!
Enjoy these pretty fall portraits!
Some pretty exciting and cool things are going on here at Emily Hixon Photography. It has been one full year since I started my business. To celebrate the one year anniversary of my business, I am launching a brand new website, logo, blog, and Facebook page. I am so very excited to finally share with all of you what I have been working on for the last month and a half. My new adorable logo was specially designed by the talented graphic artist Mandy, of Style Me Sweet Design. Thanks, Mandy! Check out my website at www.emilyhixon.com. I hope that you enjoy the new look as much as I do!

Thank you all so much for your support! I cannot wait to see where this next year will take me. For now, I will leave you with a brand new image you will find on my website – photo courtesy of my talented photographer boyfriend and my trusty camera.
I guess you can say that I got bit by the photography bug last night. I was looking out my window admiring the way the light was hitting the trees, when I realized that I needed to have another photo session ASAP. I posted on my photography Facebook page asking if anyone wanted a session tonight. Right away, a familiar face replied. My sister’s best friend and I have been talking about getting some photos of her little girl. The timing was perfect. It seemed as though this session was meant to be.
Although it was excruciatingly humid, we made it almost an hour! Despite many bug bites, a few slips and falls, lots of sweat, and a few breaks, we got some beautiful images of this sweet little girl.
It’s been such a busy week! Now that I have a moment, it’s time for a new post.
I cannot believe how quickly the leaves are changing and falling. Everyday I notice a tree in my yard that has either changed colors or lost its leaves. Fall is such a beautiful time of year but very short-lived.
Last weekend, I went out for round 2 of my photo session with Scott. Our session was quick but fun! If the weather is nice again this weekend, I’ll be back out with him again and maybe even one of his friends.
I hope you enjoy this little sneak peak.
– More to come this weekend 🙂
