Brooke + Gwynn | Pittsburgh Engagement Portrait Photographer – Engagement Photo Session | Emily Hixon Photography
Not too long ago, I received an email from a high school classmate of mine. Brooke and I played softball together when we were little girls as well. Time goes by so quickly! When Brooke told me that she was engaged and looking for a wedding photographer, I was honored that she thought of me. After meeting with her and her fiancé, Gwynn, I was excited to be a part of their wedding day.
These two really love each other. For their engagement session, they brought along the other love of their lives: Scout. Scout is a rescue dog. Gwynn and Brooke rescued her a few years back. Now, they cannot imagine life without her. With the help of Brooke’s mom, we got some really great shots of these three. What a fun engagement session!
I cannot wait to photograph their September 2013 wedding! Enjoy.
Megan + Shawn | Pittsburgh Engagement Portrait Photographer – Engagement Photo Session | Emily Hixon Photography
Megan and Shawn are one of the couples whose wedding I will be photographing in 2013! As soon as I met them, I knew they were going to be fun to get to know throughout the upcoming year. They seemed more like friends than anything to me almost immediately. Their engagement session was great! We were extremely lucky. You never know what to expect in December. The day of their session came and the forecast was calling for rain. Thankfully, the sun was shining until just moments after the session ended and the rain began to fall! It was nearly 60 degrees for their “winter” engagement portraits.
I am super excited to be a part of this couple’s special day in July. Until then, enjoy these lovely engagement portraits! 🙂
Falling in Love | Pittsburgh Engagement Portrait Photographer – Engagement Photo Session | Emily Hixon Photography
Renee and Jess are such an awesome couple. I met them back in May to discuss photographing their wedding next year. As soon as we sat down to talk, I could immediately tell that they were great not just as a couple but also individually. They mentioned at our initial meeting that they wanted fall photos. I am so glad that they waited until the leaves changed for their portraits! It was a blast photographing these two. Can’t wait to photograph their upcoming wedding next May!
Enjoy this fantastic couple! 🙂
Everyone always says it but you don’t always think about how true it is – time flies. Last summer, Scott and I headed over to a local park for some fun vintage style photos of ourselves and of his dad’s antique car for Father’s Day. We are always the ones behind the camera and never the ones in front. One gorgeous summer evening we packed up his dad’s car with an antique picnicking set and drove out to the park with the car! First, we got some really great photos of the car for Scott’s dad. Then, we set up the “picnic,” threw the camera on a tripod, and let it fire away on a timer. It was so much fun! We will definitely be doing this again soon.
I never shared these photos on my blog. Although they are being posted over a year later, I still love them just as much! Enjoy 🙂

There is something about engagement sessions that I really love. As I photograph more and more couples, I realize that each couple has a unique relationship and story. This particular couple has a romantic movie-like story.
The two met a few years back at Kennywood while working their summer jobs. The bride was stationed at the Thunderbolt, while the groom was close by at the Phantom’s Revenge. She was friends with one of the guys who also worked at the Phantom. The bride would often go to hang out at the Phantom and chat. At the end of the summer season, the bride and groom went to visit another amusement park with a group of friends where they began their relationship. The two got engaged recently at the same amusement park where their relationship started…. adorable!
Needless to say, it was pretty much a given that part of their session would take place at the amusement park where they met – Kennywood. We had absolutely gorgeous fall weather that day. It was so much fun to photograph this couple’s engagement.
