Down on the Farm | Pittsburgh Senior Portrait Photographer – Senior Photo Session | Emily Hixon Photography
Emily’s senior portrait session was on a gorgeous, hot fall day! Who would have thought at the end of October in southwestern PA we would have an 80 degree day?! Poor Emily so desperately wanted to wear her fall sweaters, boots, and jacket but paid the price to do so! You would never know the difference from her photos because she looks just perfect.
Enjoy another senior beauty! 🙂
The Beauty of Fall | Pittsburgh Senior Portrait Photographer – Senior Photo Session | Emily Hixon Photography
Back in early February, I started photographing a family friend. Marina is a senior graduating in June of 2013. You may recognize her from some of my previous blog or Facebook posts. Her mom contacted me about one year ago with the idea to have seasonal senior portraits taken of Marina. As you may or may not remember, last winter was mild. We began with the winter portraits on one of the only snow days we received, which also happened to be the coldest day as well! Before we knew it, spring had arrived. The spring session was just beautiful and much more comfortable. We anticipated that the summer session would be really hot and sunny. Well, that was not the case! When the day arrived, it was only 59 degrees and cloudy. Poor Marina was actually shivering without a jacket over her sundress! Needless to say, the summer portraits still turned out nicely. Go figure, the fall session was the warmest and prettiest day of all. It was the perfect way to cap off the experience.
For the final session, we headed over to Soergel Orchards for some great fall themed portraits. We had a fun time exploring the main grounds area and the apple orchards. The session ended with some tasty treats and pumpkin coffee!
A Girl and Her Camera | Pittsburgh Senior Portrait Photographer – Senior Photo Session | Emily Hixon Photography
Several months ago, I was contacted by this sweet senior year girl. She expressed her interest in and love for photography. I was excited to hear that as a photographer herself, she decided that I was going to be the one to take her senior portraits. After being rained out several times this summer, we finally made this portrait session happen just recently. It was honestly the perfect and most beautiful late summer/early fall evening. I had a blast working with Amanda.
With all of the strange weather we’ve been experiencing this spring in Pittsburgh, I was not sure if this session was going to be in the snow, rain, or sun! Thankfully, it was sunny and spring-like day for this fun senior portrait session. You may recognize this familiar face from a previous post a few months back. I could not have been happier to work with and photograph such a beautiful and fun girl not only once but twice!
We spent most of Friday evening grabbing some great photos in one of my favorite places to take portraits in Pittsburgh. Marina really knows how to work the camera! Not to mention, she is more than willing to go along with my crazy ideas – including sitting on a small and uncomfortable rock surrounded by plants for a considerable amount of time! (Thanks, Marina and sorry about that ;-))
Enjoy another round of beauty!
It is always fun to photograph a familiar face. When my mom’s longtime friend and once college roommate asked me to be her daughter’s senior portrait photographer, I was honored. Her daughter is so absolutely gorgeous, so I knew that these portraits were going to be just beautiful.
We braved the cold this morning, yes the coldest day this winter yet, to get some photos in the snow before it’s gone! We moved quick to say the least! I have to say, you would never know that Marina was cold judging from her photos. I cannot thank these two enough for putting up with the weather and all of my crazy ideas.

You may recognize this familiar face from a winter session I posted back in January. When I got an email about two months ago from Elise asking me to take her senior portraits, I did not hesitate to say yes! We had to reschedule once and almost had to reschedule again because of the serious downpour Sunday evening. Just when we were ready to call it quits after completing her indoor “studio” shots, the clouds cleared and the sun started shining. It was certainly a good sign of what was to follow.
Elise is such a sweet, kind and easy-going girl. Her inner and outer beauty shows through in these photos. She’s a photographer’s dream and could not have made my job any easier!
Thanks for asking me to be your photographer, again, Elise! Best of luck in your senior year of high school 🙂
I have to say, I am really starting to love maternity sessions. It is such an exciting and beautiful time in a woman’s life. I am honored that I was asked to photograph and document the pregnancy of a first-time expecting couple.
This session has been in the works for a little over a month now. We were lucky to have a gorgeous summer evening. The “mom-to-be” was radiant and the “dad-to-be” was definitely proud. It was easy to see how much they already love their little one. This couple is waiting to find out the gender of the baby until birth – so for now, they call their little one “Baby E.”
I cannot wait to meet “Baby E” in September when I return for a newborn session! Until then…
Those of you who have been following me since the beginning of my journey in photography may recognize this familiar face. My boyfriend Scott is currently in the process of getting together a professional website for his audio work. Because it has been a while since I’ve photographed him, he was in need of some new head shots and other photos. He is always so patient and easy to work with. He listens to my crazy ideas and even makes his own suggestions.
I am really excited for the release of his new website. When the time comes, I will share more information with you about it.
For now, here is a preview of what you will see on his website.
Despite the never-ending cold and snowy weather, Scott and I ventured out for a photo session with one of his guitar students, Elise. I’ve been wanting to have a photo session with Elise for a few months now. I was glad to finally get an opportunity to do so today.
Although the snow makes for a nice backdrop, I must say I am ready to see it go! After about 40 or so minutes into the session, we were all just about frozen. Elise never complained and happily went along with my crazy ideas. I hope to photograph her again when the weather is more desirable!
Enjoy another winter beauty 🙂
