You Are My Sunshine | Pittsburgh Baby and Family Portrait Photographer – One Year Old Baby Photo Session | Emily Hixon Photography

Only six months ago, I met this beautiful and loving family. During the last six months, I have come to know and enjoy spending time with them. Have you ever felt like a person or a group of people were brought into your life for a reason? I feel that way about this family. It has been a complete joy to watch and capture the baby and her big sister as they grew. Amazing what a difference just six months can make!

I am sad to say that as quickly as this family came into my life, they are already leaving! They are headed back to their home state soon. Even though I hate to see them leave, I am happy that they are making their way back home. This final session was on the baby girl’s first birthday! She looked completely adorable in her dress and tutu. Of course, what one year old session would be complete without a smash cake? Wait until you see how cute her smash cake looked!

Enjoy this lovely family and the birthday girl.

Brother and Sister | Children Portrait Photographer – Washington, PA

Last week, I headed over to Washington to photograph these cute siblings! Whenever I first arrived, I was greeted by a torrential downpour of rain! I thought for sure that this session doomed. Thankfully, it was just a quick burst of rain followed by sunshine.

I had a really great time photographing these two. They were fun, energetic and willing to do just about anything! Even the family’s dog got in on a few photos (wait until you see his expression!).

Enjoy!

The Birthday Girl | Child & Family Photographer – Pittsburgh, PA

Just a short while ago, I was photographing this little cutie’s sweet baby sister. When I was last visiting and photographing at this family’s home, this little girl was getting sooo excited for her third birthday! She knew that she was getting a special tutu and a custom shirt to wear as her birthday outfit and could hardly wait for it to arrive!

This brand new three year old sweetie was excited to get some photos all by herself but also some with mom, dad and baby sister. She did such a great job holding her all by herself too! She laughed, kissed her baby sister on the head and even pretended to sneeze to make everyone giggle. I had such a fun time with the birthday girl and her family!

Enjoy 🙂

A Merry Little Christmas | Baby and Family Portrait Session – Wexford, PA

I have so enjoyed getting to know this family and their little guy. His mom and dad are two of the nicest people I know. I am grateful to be photographing and documenting their special moments as a family.

A few months ago, I was taking this little one’s newborn portraits. What a difference a few months makes! He is getting cuter by the day! He has the sweetest personality and smile. I could barely stand how adorable he looked in his jeans and reindeer sweater! I hope this little guy and his parents enjoy their first Christmas as a family of three!!

…can’t wait to see this cutie again for his six month portraits 🙂

Enjoy!!

Sugar & Spice and Everything Nice | Baby and Family Portrait Session – Wexford, PA

This past weekend, I was fortunate enough to photograph this sweet family. They were so pleasant to be around. You can tell how much the baby is loved and feels loved because she smiles from ear to ear! She was giggly and talkative throughout the session. When the wind blew, she smiled and put her head back to feel the cool fall air! Her mom and dad just adore her – and I can see why! I could not have asked for a more adorable family.

I cannot forget to mention that this little lady is turning one! She looked so pretty in pink! Happy Birthday Little One!

Enjoy!

Twins | Baby and Family Portrait Session – Cranberry, PA

When the mom of these sweet twins contacted me about scheduling a session for her babies, I was beyond excited! I have seen some really adorable twin sessions from other photographers. Needless to say, when I found out that I had the opportunity to photograph these twins I could not wait! I was even more ecstatic to learn that she has a boy and a girl both with red hair… how cute is that?!

I could not have asked for more content, beautiful, and sweet babies. For only 14 weeks old, they sure knew how to behave and smile for the camera! The babies’ mom and dad were so kind. I could see their love for the babies and the babies love for them. I was so lucky to have the chance to photograph this family and capture such special moments.

Enjoy!

Brothers | Family and Children Portrait Session – Canonsburg, PA

For about a month now, I have had this session planned for this family. We were hoping for colorful leaves, sunshine and cool weather – for once, everything worked out exactly as planned! These little guys’ mom found the perfect location for our session. It was so much fun photographing this family. The two little boys were so sweet and adorable. You could tell they are the best of friends. Their mom and dad were funny, great at entertaining, throwing leaves and providing yummy snacks! I could not ask for a more beautiful family to photograph on such a gorgeous fall day!

Enjoy this sweet family!

Families are Forever | Family Portrait Sessions – Morgantown, WV

I spent my Saturday in Morgantown, WV photographing two families. The second of the families will look familiar to those of you who have been following me for the past year. The first family is close friends with the other family I photographed last year around this time. We began the session at their beautiful new home then moved to a few on campus locations. The girls were photogenic and excited to have their pictures taken. I loved their little matching feather hair extensions. The mom and dad were kind and patient. Their session went by so quickly. It must have been because we were having fun! I enjoyed spending my Saturday morning with this nice family!

I hope they enjoy a sneak peek of their session!

After I finished photographing this family, I took a brief lunch break and uploaded their images. Then, I got ready to photograph the family that I met last year. (See image below)

I was excited to see them all again. I knew the girls would look much different than they did last year, but I was not expecting such a big change! The older daughter and sister turned into a young lady, while the younger daughter and sister has lost her little baby face. Both girls are still just as charming and sweet. Their mom and dad are also great! They had me laughing throughout the session – as did the younger daughter and sister with her silly faces and poses. We had such a great time walking around WVU taking photos. It was such a nice fall day, with the exception of some serious occasional wind gusts.

I am very grateful that I was able to meet up with this great family once again! Looking forward to seeing you all again next year! 🙂

Enjoy your sneak peek!

TWO | Baby Portrait Session – Venetia, PA

This little guy is turning 2! He is smart, funny, and full of energy. With a little help from Mom and Dad, some fun play apples, a chair just his size, and his favorite thing – the table, we made this session fun! This little man is full of smiles and laughter. His white blonde hair and bright blue eyes are to die for! What a handsome little guy. I think that everyone had fun, even the family’s dog!

I absolutely loved photographing this almost two year old. Happy early birthday little man!

Enjoy these adorable images!

A Gift | Family Holiday Portrait Session – Pittsburgh, PA

Happy  New Year! I hope that everyone enjoyed the holidays. They go by too quickly!

Before Christmas, I had the opportunity to photograph some familiar faces. Scott, his sister Jamie, and I were able to sneak in some portraits of the two of them as a Christmas gift for their parents. We headed over to Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh to take advantage of the warm atmosphere and great surroundings. The holiday exhibit was really beautiful! The flowers and decorations made for the perfect backdrop. It was a nice opportunity to take some nice photos and check out the awesome exhibit.

We were cut a little short on time but somehow I still managed to take one too many photos! I had a difficult time picking out the right images because I had such great models to work with!

Enjoy!
